Discarding

Discarding

Picking the right discard is often difficult. One of the most important things to do is to signal your partner as clearly as possible, but try to make sure that you never signal with a trick. You and your partner should both be looking at the first discard—it’s often the easiest to make and should carry the most information. Later discards can be more difficult as you want to avoid throwing away a card that might be critical. Keeping length with dummy is generally a good strategy, but keep in mind that you may also be guarding a long suit that declarer holds.

See how well you fare at conveying information to partner on the following deals. We will be using Standard carding, though players may use other methods.
