. This is the safest play. Leading from a queen here can't hurt (if there is a finesse, declarer always had it available). Any other play is dangerous. A flat dummy with nothing to throw things on indicates passivity. Look at the remaining cards:

As you can see, a play in any suit but a spade will cost a sure trick. (The 5 instead of the 3 is just a slight deceptive measure, making it harder for declarer to guess spades).

On the actual layout, if declarer guesses well, he still could make it, but why give him any help?
