If you really want to improve your bidding and get to the right contract, these books are your best resource.
Even though I have a 3 inch binder with all of Larry's Modern Bidding articles from the ACBL Bridge Bulletin from January 2017 - November 2020, I immediately ordered all 3 of these volumes as soon as I found out they were available.
I am only up to the 2 Club opening in Volume 1 but I am really learning some of the finer points of the opening 1 bids. Larry explains things very clearly and also points out bids that are not considered to be standard and paying attention to your rebids before you open.
Added a few days later: I finished Modern Bidding Vol I. It was great. Just started reading Vol II. Agree that these are essential reading for the serious bridge player.
I have purchased Larry's books on Modern Bidding and I love them. All the explanations, the guidance for 2 over 1 or standard, and he does it in a very clear way. As a retired math teacher I know how much work goes into preparing this material.
Give my congratulations to Larry on these excellent books. There is so much excellent information in these books. These should be required reading for everyone attending Larry's and Michael's webinars! I am really hoping that Larry puts together a summary booklet with all this info. I am sure it would be a big seller.
This series compiles and expands on the material published in Larry Cohen's Bidding Basics column that has been appearing in the Bridge Bulletin since January 2017. The material has been expanded to include some finer points, differentiating what is standard for more advanced players from what Cohen recommends for newer players. Each of the 59 parts includes a 12-question quiz, expanded from the original 8-question quizzes. That's more than 700 questions. Cohen's material is reliably solid and focused on what is most useful. The format makes it a handy reference.
Hi, Larry. I just want to express my appreciation to you for your series of teaching workbooks. I have most of them and I'm carefully absorbing them, and I am very happy to have found them! Yours are the best teaching materials I've run across yet, and I'm having a great time becoming a better bridge player with them. So, thank you very much!
I am enjoying your 3 volume set on Modern Bidding as well as Doubles and Redoubles. They all provide an excellent review. Thanks so much for your time and effort in writing them.
I love your columns in the Bulletin. I ordered your Larry teaches Modern Bidding Vol. 1-3.
It is the best book that I have seen. I used to teach bridge …I am 85 now.
Many thanks for all you have done for bridge and I in the Intermediate level of bridge still have the monthly Bulletin.
You and Marty Bergen have done what we need to know, and this book is great for me and the “know it alls”.
