After They Interfere (Quiz #4 of 7)

After They Interfere (Quiz #4 of 7)

In this series of 7 Quizzes (this is the fourth) our partner opens on the one level and the opponents overcall or Double.

In this quiz, the opponents make a 1♠ overcall.  That means our partner opened either 1♠, 1♠ or 1♠.

Responder can Pass (and usually will with 0-6).

1NT= 6-10   balanced with spades stopped (and typically 2♠ if partner opened 1♠, 2 or 3 ♠ if partner opened 1♠/1♠).
2NT=11-12 balanced with spades stopped (and typically 2♠ if partner opened 1♠, 2 or 3 ♠ if partner opened 1♠/1♠).
3NT=13-15 balanced with spades stopped (and typically 2♠ if partner opened 1♠, 2 or 3 ♠ if partner opened 1♠/1♠).

Double = Negative (At least 6-7 points -- probably a little more since opener might have to rebid on the 2-level). Typically showing the unbid suits, but the focus is on hearts (if the opening bid was 1♠ or 1♠).

2-level raise = 6-10 in support (after 1♠, usually 5♠, after 1♠, usually 4♠, after 1♠, 3+♠).

2♠ = Limit raise or better in the suit partner opened (after 1♠, usually 5♠, after 1♠, usually 4♠, after 1♠, 3+♠).

2-of-a-new suit = 5+ cards, 10+HCP, forcing one round (but not GF)

Jump-raise should be preemptive, but make sure the partnership discusses this situation [for example: 1♠ (1♠) 3♠]
