Your 9th can come from diamonds or spades.
Given that a diamond was led, it is unlikely that suit is 3-3. Holding up in diamonds gives the defense a chance to switch to hearts.
Better is to win the diamond and hope that spades will provide the 9th trick. You will need West to have the K (a 50-50 chance).
But, you must lead a low spade while you still have entries to untangle your tricks. If you cash clubs first, you would later have to cross to your hand to lead the low spade. Too late. The defense can knock out your other entry to your hand before you can get the Q out of the way.
