Letter from Mike Regarding June Webinars

Well, four weeks have gone by. In that time, I’ve been able to use Zoom to cover these four topics.

1                     DRURY

2                     SPLINTERS

3                     JACOBY 2NT RAISES

4                     THIRD SEAT BIDDING TACTICS

Beginning on June 2, I’m starting a five session series that covers many topics. The June 2 topic includes an unusual theme.

Is it ever right to overcall at the one level with a four card suit?

Some say ‘perhaps’.  Some say ‘no way’.  In this discussion I offer a history of this theme along with reasons why it is a dynamic tool if used properly.

As south you hold:

♠ AQJ9
♥ 3
♦ K10984
♣ K43

Is this hand worth a bid?   If so, what bid do you choose?

It depends on who you ask.

Ask me!!!

In addition to four card overcalls, is a brief discussion on those cases where your opponent does something weird that earns you an undeservedly bad result. These are called Fixes. I’ll show you my personal best example. In this case, I’m the one who unintentionally pins a fix on my opponents!

There’s one more modest discussion on what you need when you bid to 3NT.  Bridge lore says your side needs around 25 high card points. Might you ever bid 3NT when your side has sixteen high card points? There are many situations where bidding 3NT is not obvious but is likely to be the winning bid.

I hope you'll join me for my upcoming series. You can PURCHASE IT HERE
